This backyard had a lot of plain, ordinary, boring gray concrete. You want to dress that up without tearing it all out and having all of that added expense and waste. What we did instead is used acid chemical stains to permanently tint and stain the concrete. Then we went back with a really miniature etching tool, kind of a very small jackhammer, and then we carved out these shapes so that it looks like stone. We were able to save this existing concrete and make it look like it belonged, and then tying elements in throughout the yard, we used bricks, steps, and bands to match the coping that was already on the pool.
Then, of course, for our new patio areas I used concrete pavers in colors to match the staining that we were doing in the yard. The whole thing ends up being a really congruent feel, and it ties the old work with the new work very nicely
